Highlight

The Waterfall Path — from base to crown

The classic waterfall path starts right at the car park and winds upward in well-laid switchbacks along all three falls to the Krimml Tauernklause at 1,470 m. Total ascent: approx. 440 metres, walking time to the top about 1.5 hours. For a shorter version, walk only to the second fall (approx. 45 minutes) — that's where the most dramatic view is. Observation balconies along the path bring you so close to the roaring water that you feel the fine mist on your face.

Erlebnis

WaterWorld Krimml

Right at the entrance of the waterfall path sits WaterWorld Krimml — a modern science centre all about the element water. Interactive stations, a water park for children, and the 'Aqua Sphere' for older visitors make it the ideal start or finish to your visit. Especially welcome on rainy days. Open in summer and easily combined with the waterfall visit in a single trip from Salzburg.

Geheimtipp

Health in the water mist

Studies by the Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg have shown: the fine spray of the Krimml Waterfalls contains electrically charged water droplets (negative ions) proven to ease allergy symptoms and respiratory complaints. An hour's walk in the mist is as beneficial as a session in a salt cave. Best moment: early morning, when the sun hits the droplets at an angle and rainbows stand over the water.
